The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth forever. . . Psalm 138:8

Lady Sheila Carter is a founding member of the New Creation Church of Prince George's County, Maryland (2007) and brings four decades of experience in caring for families throughout the Washington metropolitan area, actively involved in serving God’s people through instruction, counseling, community outreach and evangelism.

Lady Carter’s spiritual journey began at the Northeast Holy Trinity Church (Washington, DC), under the late Bishop Kent T. Holmes. She was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost on March 27, 1981, at Holy Trinity Church #2 (Pastor James Cannon).  Northeast Holy Trinity provided an environment to grow naturally and spiritually.  It was here where she and her husband were married and raised their children.  She was also nurtured in holiness and exposed to men and women of great faith and godly living, especially her parents, Deacon William Herndon and Missionary Thelma Herndon.  An anointed psalmist, Lady Carter served in many choirs within the church.  She also was a driving force in the planning and birthing of the first ever women’s retreat sponsored by NEHTC.  These events were birthed in prayer and as a result women came from near and far to worship and fellowship.

In 1998 she was right by her husband’s side as he was elected the second pastor in the history of the Northeast Holy Trinity Church.  Lady Carter served faithfully with grace and humility along with Pastor Carter through 2006. Lady Carter has been a key contributor in the health of New Creation Church, serving tirelessly, whether ministering in song or in the ministry of the Word. Her sage wisdom has been a source of strength to families and friends alike.  She has a heart for women and has served as a covering for the women of the church, always seeking ways to be a blessing, she was responsible for birthing the annual New Creation women’s conferences.

In 2016, Lady Carter felt led of the Lord to call the women of the church together to pray. Today, the Women of Virtue prayer line meets 3 times weekly, interceding on behalf of the saints.  The prayer line has blessed many along with the Women of Virtue as it has caused the women of the church to grow closer in fellowship and to become our sister’s keeper.

Lady Carter is a native Washingtonian, educated in the public school system and a 1976 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School. She attended Central Texas College and the University of Maryland obtaining an AA degree and HR Professional Certification. An accomplished HR professional, Lady Carter retired in 2015 after 35+ years, working at several Government agencies, with the last 25 years in the Intelligence Community.

Lady Sheila Carter and her husband of 38 years, Pastor Mike Carter, reside in Upper Marlboro, MD and are blessed with 2 adult children, Laniece Small (husband Ralphael) and Kevin Carter as well as 2 granddaughters - Layla and Lyric.
